Since 8 January , a HERO 4x4xplore team has been carrying out the main route survey of La Aventura Panamericana, our event through Mexico and central America, which takes place between 7 November and 7 December.

The team is led by ace Swedish rally navigator Arne Hertz, winner of no less than 19 World Rally Championship rallies with names like Hannu Mikkola, Stig Blomqvist and Björn Waldegård. He has previously been route coordinator for our own 2003 Arctic WInter Trail and 2005 African Adventure.

The team's driver is Kurt Richter, an experienced Mexican rallyist who has worked on events such as the Carrera Panamericana and the WRC Rally of Mexico, and took part in the 2004 Great Tour of China. The third member of the team is James Walker, in charge of the hotels, who over the past year has been working very closely with Event Director John Brown at the 4x4xplore office in Worcestershire.

The team, carrying out the recce in a brand new Toyota Tacoma, are developing a varied and exciting route, hunting out challenging roads, beauty spots, historic sites and some super hotels.
