Hola Hero!
It has taken this long for Car Seven to recuperate, or at least the non-English member of the crew who had the worst journey in the world, to get from Panama to Cape Town via New York. It was a memorable but hard journey, and tulips are no longer my favourite flower. But I am exceedingly fond of "Pemex-straight on." I am in therapy in order to raise my diminished navigational skills. Terence and Mary are also probably in recovery, but they57;re not saying. At this distance my most persistent and enjoyable memories are of the people on this trip. Not enough time to see anyone at length, keeping in mind that some folk might be appalled at the thought of more time and possibly kisses from me. Roger and Sarah, indefatigable travellers. A good explanation for the British Empire! Big Jim and Serene Le Jeune, my trusty bankers. Laughing till my sides ached with Beaves the Butler, the Wignells, Mike and Jilly who I hope now has some underwear. We greatly appreciated their digestive biscuits at tea time. Enigmatic Ahmad and Raisa who clearly have a ‘Beam me up Scotty’ machine as they were always at the door of the hotel first - A reassuring sight. What can I say about the perfection of Mark and Orpha? It was a surprising and terrible sight to see Orpha with a hair out of place at the border of Costa Rica. Audrey Minimus and Ian constantly amused me and warmed my heart. Everyone was lovely and enjoyable, even though we didnt all get to know one another. The country of Holland, ever present in a flash of blue. Victor will ever be remembered in his white suit in Panama straight from a Graham Greene novel. How I appreciated Maria’s social conscience and Antoine’s beauty. I could go on about all the fine people on board, but it would take to 2012 when the Maya prediction is that the world will end. Thank you too to the splendid team and to you Mike for the zooty dance in Panama with Ines. The inestimable Jinges whose feet are imprinted on the memory of many, and James always cheerful under trying conditions. The lasting memory of the last day is the Panama Canal. A riveting experience! A good year, this coming year, of driving for all those lunatics who cant stay at home. Fond affection to you all. Audrey Maximus.

La Aventura Panamericana - Day 30 blog
Today we drive from San José to El Bambito.
After a short night of rest we got up at 04.15. We had breakfast at 05.00 and left the hotel at 05.45. We drove through a dark and quiet San José. We filled our car up with diesel and drove out of the city into the mountains.

La Aventura Panamericana - Day 28 Blog
Brrrrr… Brrrrr… Brrrrr…
Who invented mobile phones that vibrate their wake up call? It is 5.45am in Tegucigalpa and the sun has not yet made its feeble awakening. We blink our weary eyes and struggle out from underneath our warm blankets. We are in Honduras at the start of Day 28 of our Central American dash.

Day 21 Aventura Panamericana
Today started at 04.45 hrs.in Tulum. We had mislaid the tulips to get the 1.63 kms from Room 6115 in Block D, under Blocks C & B, past the tennis courts on the left and the Colonial Restaurant on the right, avoiding the Tope at 1.34 kms to emerge in the reception area, and all in pitch darkness.
