When we wrote on Day 4 that we wanted to remain at the Marquis Hotel, Los Cabos, on the southern tip of Baja California, we had no idea of the wonderful places we were still to see in Mexico.
Now, sixteen days on, as we sit in our final Mexican hotel on the Caribbean coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, we want to list our ten Mexican highlights. These are listed below in route order.
1. The astonomical observatory in the National Park of San Pedro Martir, with views of both the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez. 2. The Catvinia Boulder field and the wonderful cacti of Baja California, including the strange Cirios and the magnificent Cardones. 3. The Marquis Hotel, Los Cabos, with its amazing entrance lobby and its magnificent 'Infiniti' swimming pools. 4. The unforgettable road through the Sierra Madre Mountains up to the Urique and Copper Canyons. 5. The unique Hotel Quinta Real constructed from the bull ring in Zacatecas. 6. The amazing drive through the tunnels and narrow streets into the World Heritage site of Guanajuato. 7. The Monarch butterflies in their winter resting location, 10,000 feet up in the mountains west of Mexico City. 8. The great Aztec site of Teotihuacan, 50 kms north of Mexico City. 9. The Pantanos de Centla wetlands on the Gulf of Mexico, where we saw such a wonderful variety of birdlife. 10. The fabulous Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza.
As we leave Mexico we wonder what other highlights we have in store on our drive through Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and finally to the finish in Panama.

Hola Hero!
It has taken this long for Car Seven to recuperate, or at least the non-English member of the crew who had the worst journey in the world, to get from Panama to Cape Town via New York.

La Aventura Panamericana - Day 28 Blog
Brrrrr… Brrrrr… Brrrrr…
Who invented mobile phones that vibrate their wake up call? It is 5.45am in Tegucigalpa and the sun has not yet made its feeble awakening. We blink our weary eyes and struggle out from underneath our warm blankets. We are in Honduras at the start of Day 28 of our Central American dash.
