The Road to Everest

China Entries
Feb 7, 2006,

We are very pleased to announce that our latest China entry was confirmed last week from Ms Eileen Ainscough, a HERO 4x4xplore newcomer. She has never taken part in an adventure drive and is very excited about the prospect of visiting all the remote places in China and Tibet in her newly acquired 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser. Last week John Brown had a call from an old rallying friend Jim Little, who has been asked by Eileen to prepare her vehicle.

Also among our China entries are Bob and Thelma Howells, experienced 4x4 adventurers who have taken part in most of our long distance events, including last Augustís African Adventure.

They are one of several crews who enjoyed our African event so much that they have also decided to travel round China with us. The others include Jukka and Leila Holopainen from Finland, Jean Steinhauser and Anne Collard from Luxembourg, and Michael Bernecker from Germany.

David Hughes, who came on the 2004 Great Tour of China, has decided to return again this year with a new co-driver Richard Smith (another HERO 4x4xplore first-timer).

Richard Martin-Hurst, who lives in Italy, has entered the event in his 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser. Richard is of course a well known veteran rally driver whose impressive CV dates back to the early 1960s, and more recently includes London to Sydney, the East African Safari Classic and other competitive short distance events, including HEROís LE JOG.
